In short, yes!
You should always advertise the job salary for the simple reason that it will save you time, in the short and long term.
Discussing money is often taboo, but it usually the biggest motivator for applicants.
For highly skilled jobs, the candidates you want to attract to your business will often be more selective about what they apply to. You want the candidates who have made the shortlist to have all the information they need to know if that role is right for them. If the salary is far below their expectations, it is almost guaranteed that they will make the decision to end the application process, leaving you. the employer. without the position filled for a much longer period of time.
On the flip side of the coin, if the salary advertised is below the industry average, you can still attract good candidates in a number of ways:
- Advertise the job as an opportunity for candidates looking further their career path by offering qualifications and training resources.
-
- Advertise the perks of working for your company such as discounted gym membership or private healthcare.
- Disclose there is more money available based on skill level and experience.
All of these things, whilst giving the candidate realistic expectations, can motivate a candidate to join your company over a company offering a position with a seemingly higher salary “up to” salary.
